Dua, Umm Bara’a| Amman, Jordan
I am from Amman, Jordan. I have been coming to the Haramain for more than 20 years with my husband and kids. If I don’t come here at least once a year, I feel like I will die! We normally drive down by car from Amman. It usually takes a day in travel but it’s a fun trip. For me and my husband, it was so important to make memories of these places in the lives of our children. My eldest children are grown up now and look back to our trips to the Haramain with love and longing. All my children have a deep connection to Makka and Madina.
I always pray that Allah puts firm iman in the hearts of my children. My children have experienced these blessed places since they’ve been little. We have tried to come as often as we can with them to create memories. This is what childhood memories should be. This is the basic tarbiya/upbringing of children, and the seeds of goodness are planted during these years. Its too late when they are older. We are the example for our children because they will learn what is important in life from us by what we do and where we prefer to go.
When we were driving down this time, my husband was reciting Quran enroute and my daughter was listening to him. My daughter said, ‘Baba, when I’m grown up, I want to recite Quran like this and have my children listen to me!’ I am involved in dawa work in Amman. I feel like a fish out of water when I am not involved in dawa work; its my calling and from the generosity and grace of Allah.
The great miracle about being here is seeing Muslims from all over the world. There are so many languages being spoken with people coming from so many different backgrounds and habits, but everyone is calling on Allah. Everyone is coming here to worship Allah. It’s the fitra to turn to Him.
It’s such a ni’ma/blessing from Allah that we are Muslims and from the Ummah of al-Habib al-Mustafa (peace be upon). I pray Allah will join us with him in the next world!
